Food Photography has always amazed me. Even before I thought of starting this blog, I would peruse food sites and marvel at the photographs. I have watched videos of the whole process and food is probably treated worse than models are, but the results are incredible. So, when I decided to start this blog, it was high on the list of things I needed to do to give this blog some form of fine touch and professionalism. I knew plating is one step to getting there, and I have started stocking on fancy serving dishes and platters, so get ready to be wowed and impressed by the next set of images coming to Dooney’s Kitchen. Remember when I wrote about Nigerian food being worthy of being served at even the world’s best restaurants? It is all about plating I have come to see. So be prepared to see Nigerian food in a different light. Be prepared to look at an image and think, you mean that is Egusi soup, or yam porridge can actually look like that? Wait, is that Boli?
A few weeks ago I wrote about taking a digital photography class. It was a life changing experience I tell you. I walked into the class feeling a little depressed about my compact camera. I looked around and my fellow students all had expensive DSLR cameras so I slouched in my chair and said to myself, I am not going to learn anything useful as I don’t have the right kind of equipment. The tutor changed my perception after a few minutes. You will be surprised by what these compact cameras can do. The technology of compact cameras has improved significantly, and even though they can’t exactly match up with the expensive DSLR cameras et al, if you know how to use it with the right lighting, camera angles, focus, distance etc and the right function settings, they can do a pretty decent job. So my Ijebu brain is telling me that until I start making money from this blog, my compact camera (which isn’t particularly cheap either) is going to do the job just fine. Lol………
Well this weekend, I decided to put all I had learnt to practice and I was startled by the results. I couldn’t believe it. I kept snapping and snapping away and yelling with joy and beaming with pride. So these pictures are my babies. Pardon me a little and let me show them off. These images have not even been photoshopped and I can’t begin to imagine how much more I will be able to do with Photoshop after I attend the classes next month. Henceforth, this is the standard of pictures that you will be seeing from Dooney’s Kitchen and much more. I hope you appreciate it and please I would love some feedback. Thanks in advance…..
I will load more in due course, trust me I have loads of them to post, but I would like to post about the recipes so I don’t just make you salivate over the pictures. Lol
I hope you have enjoyed looking at the images. I had a lot of fun taking them too. I will be uploading more images in another post. Happy viewing…..
