Cooking Classes

Would you benefit from a Cooking class? I’m sure you will. I am aware that reading recipes is not for everyone, especially people who don’t generally like cooking, or feel they are disaster cooks despite their best efforts. This is where a Cooking Class will provide a better experience, and will boost your confidence in the kitchen. It is safe to compare it to reading about a subject vs taking a class with a tutor. If cooking does not come naturally to you, or you’ve been struggling with recipes, why don’t you sign up for a Cooking Class today? Nigerian meals can be complicated and scary especially if you did not grow up cooking it, or if you’ve not had that much success with it. You could be a good cook who just needs extra tutelage on certain dishes you’ve not been able to get right, sign up for a Cooking Class and finally master that dish. I have gained tremendously from direct tutelage from my mum, grandmum’s, aunties, and friends. Technically all that tutelage I’ve received over the years can be likened to a Cooking class albeit informally. So, I want to replicate that experience for you. I have taught so many of friends how to cook certain dishes, I have lost count. The experience was very rewarding and they’ve all come back with their success stories. Cooking is a skill, and with many skills that you have acquired, you must have received some form of tutelage or the other. When you are done with my class, cooking will feel more natural to you, and you’ll be more relaxed and confident in your kitchen, no matter the dish.

So, how am I proposing we run this? I have come up with a revolutionary idea of running a cooking class which does not take you out of the comfort zone of your own kitchen. What do I mean? Think Skyping with friends, family and business partners, think Webex for business meetings, think video conferencing, think Viber, think online tutorials, online courses you’ve taken, even online degrees. I can list for days. These technology avenues are a part of our everyday lives, we use them without question. If you can run an executive business meeting via Webex, attend an online course for months without stepping foot out of your home, why can’t you attend a Cooking class right from the comfort of your kitchen? Yes an Online Video Cooking Class or what I will call an e-Cooking Class. It will be like I am standing right there in your kitchen, albeit virtually. You can chat for hours with your friends and family via Skype, and you are still connecting to them. I would like to broaden our horizon and consider the enormous possibilities. Think about it. You are standing in your kitchen, and receiving instructions, hints and tips, your previous mistakes being pointed out in real-time, something a recipe can’t provide. We could run the class as 1:1 or video conference in groups. Think about it, you and your friends can conference with a cooking class, right in your homes. Wouldn’t that be so much fun? Wherever in the world you are located, as long as you’ve got an internet connection that is reliable, you are good to go.

You may be wondering, Dunni, what is the difference between what you are providing and watching a Youtube video or a Cooking Channel. My answer is simple. You can’t ask the author of the video or Tv show a question while you are cooking and have your question answered immediately. Many times, myself inclusive, you encounter a problem with a recipe and the dish goes down south. You may be able to salvage the dish, you may not, but imagine if you could have someone there just when you need it providing that support for you. Imagine cooking for a small party and you have a million things to do and you are all by yourself. A Youtube video will not provide the help that you need, which is where I come in. I have already run several test e-sessions with friends, specifically choosing a dish they had never cooked before, and one of them said to me “Dunni, you have a genius idea right there”, lol. Offer it on the blog, and this is what I am doing today.

If you would rather prefer a hands on class, with both of us in the kitchen cooking together, and you are residing in the UK, specifically London and its surrounding areas, that can be arranged, simply book a class and choose the option that you want. I will be looking forward to hearing from you, and working with you.

You can book a class via the Contact Page which is up and running. Classes will run 7 days a week. Mon – Friday as from 1800 GMT, Sat – Sunday as from 1200 GMT. Picture being the best cook you can be, churning out delicious dishes that will wow your friends and family. Welcome to The Dooney’s Kitchen Experience…………….

Nigerian food, is bold, multi faceted, rich, colourful, spicy and with varied nuances, as you move from tribe to tribe. To describe Nigerian cooking, one would say it is fiercely traditional and somewhat dogmatic, but Dooney’s Kitchen proposes to simplify methods and steps that have been passed from generation to generation whilst also challenging some of these methods using Technology. The New Nigerian Cookery isn’t just about creating a New Nigerian Kitchen, or should we say a more technology aware Nigerian cooking experience, but it encompasses redefining recipes too. Come along on the journey, and welcome to one of the best online resources for Nigerian food.
