Tuwon Shinkafa using a Hand mixer or Food Proessor

The very first time I made Tuwon Shinkafa, I swore never to do it again. Lol. All that stirring and stirring and mashing and mashing. It occurred to me to try it with a hand mixer, especially as a hand mixer does a good job with making Amala (link HERE) and Pounded Yam too (link HERE). See the videos below.

Save yourself the hassle and go the New Nigerian Cookery way. Use a hand mixer.

Feeling like some Tuwon Shinkafa tonight. The first time I made it, I now saw why my grandma omused rice flour, rather than starting from scratch with raw rice. This is even more tedious than Amala. After sitting in traffic for almost 2 hours for a 20minute journey, I can't imagine myself using a wooden stick. Hand mixer to the rescue. See how fast it pulverised the arborio rice to form tuwo. It also makes pounded yam. Welcome to #theNewNigerianCookery. A question for anyone who knows please, is fura de nunu just fermented fresh cows milk I.e yogurt, or what does millet have to do with it because I am thoroughly confused. I can get fresh cows milk from a farm nearby, I also have millet here too, so if you have a recipe to share, please do. Thanks ???

My maternal grandma was born and raised in the North. Tuwo Shinkafa was a regular at Mama's house but she mostly used rice flour. My first attempt at making Tuwon Shinkafa from scratch was very stressful. All that stirring and mashing and stirring. I haven't made it since then. Today I got out the hand mixer. Easy peasy. Soooo fast too. Labake completed hers by pouring the cooked rice in a food processor. #theNewNigerianCookery. It was made slightly soft because I am just about to start on Miyan Kuka and I don't want the Tuwo to be too hard by the time I am ready for Lunch. Eguoo and Gbagba Fofo (Okro Peppersoup) for a late breakfast. Miyan Kuka and Tuwon Shinkafa for a late Lunch. From Delta to the North. Travelling across Nigeria, through food.
